Nagpur: A 115-runs third wicket partnership between George Bartlett and Delray Rawlins helped England escape with a draw on the final day of the second Junior Test match against India at the VCA Jamtha Stadium here yesterday.
England finished with a score of 255 in their second innings off 82 overs. India was not able to bat as the match time was over. The home team had taken 13 runs first innings lead.
Earlier, overnight England batsman Daniel Houghton (0) retired hurt this morning.
Bartlett in company of Rawlins ensured that the visitors were in a safe zone of avoiding defeat. Bartlett scored 76 runs (6×4, 3×6), while Rawlins scored 49 (5×4, 1×6).
Later Aaron Broad 34 not out and Will Jacks 19 shared a 50 runs seventh wicket stand depriving the home side any chance of a possible win. Indian spinner Harsh Tyagi 4-67 was the pick of the home team attack with some clever variation but failed to get much needed support from other bowlers as the visitors batted well on the final day.
